We are in Posillipo, an elegant residential area on a verdant hill overlooking the Gulf of Naples. Here, an apartment between sky and sea has recently been completed, with a breathtaking view of Capri, a special place that seems to defy the laws of gravity and float suspended over the sea. For this project, in which the natural setting reigns supreme, interior designer Biancamaria Santangelo of the Nabi.Interior Design studio harmonised the interior spaces by choosing exclusively designed furnishings and prestigious materials. These include Antolini natural stones that stand out for their strength and luminosity, helping to create interior spaces characterised by contemporary elegance.
«I prefer natural materials», reveals Biancamaria Santangelo. «When the client agrees with my choice, only natural stones, metals and woods are the idioms of my design language. When I am forced, rarely, to choose ‘simulation’, I find myself in difficulty». «After all, the intrinsic beauty of natural stone is undeniable», the designer continues, «and particularly suited to a project like this one of clean, simple elegance, but which conceals technical ambitions such as the presence of floor and ceiling radiators and the curved layout.»
In this case, in order to meet the most technical challenges, working with Antolini was fundamental because, the designer tells us, «it meant being able to choose and have at our disposal a whole block, which once sectioned offers slabs with the same veins, which, together with my team, we were able to graphically reconstruct on the floor following the layout of the space, obtaining a unique effect».
The sun enters generously into the interior of the house thanks to the sliding and profile-free window frames, which allow a direct relationship with the panorama. To emphasise the brightness of the rooms, the design studio chose Statuario Extra marble, which was also brought onto the terrace because it has the same veining as the sun. «The sea and the sun were in our arms and eyes. It was unthinkable to use something that was not natural », continues Biancamaria Santangelo. «We chose materials that shared what comes from nature. The result is a contemporary home for refined people who love beauty and quality. Marble for me is a natural work of art that the teamwork of Antolini, ours and the excellent local marble workers have perfected, unveiled and magnified».
The floor covering is in Statuario Extra marble which, with its flowing veins and shades of white, evokes the white foam of waves and clouds, projecting those entering the home into an almost dreamlike dimension in which the boundary between inside and outside is lost. Black Cosmic, finally, is the granite of the kitchen surfaces to remind us that it is in the depths of the earth that he most surprising wonder is generated and that only Mother Nature is capable of producing it, almost a material quotation of the volcanic nature of the surrounding area.
The bathroom, on the other hand, was clad in Natural Quartz Cristallo Iceberg, a stone that creates an ice effect on the walls, illuminating the room with natural light and giving the perception of being inside an iceberg that is both surprising and relaxing. In the second bathroom, a Dover White Selected marble floor, contrasting with the cream-coloured walls, creates a sober, elegant and refined effect.
Every detail of the apartment has been carefully chosen, from the perfectly calibrated lighting, to the choice and arrangement of the furnishings and works of art that, together with the innate and eternal beauty of Antolini’s natural stones, create an environment in which luxury, elegance and comfort find a harmonious and perfect match.
