Nordic poetry, Venetian technique

It’s not easy to define ‘poetry.’ Perhaps it is a series of words in a rhythmical arrangement, with the aim of expressing an experience. An artform that suggests emotions. In the case of Volum, the new collection of suspension lamps, it implies the precise perception of the physical space occupied, in relation to the surroundings and their inhabitants.

The terse multidisciplinary approach of the Norwegian Snøhetta group jibes nicely with the complex technical prowess of Lodes, a Venetian company that has produced technical lighting solutions for three generations, using materials of the highest quality. Imagination and technology converge in a spherical form made of white blown glass, designed to light spaces at 360° in a seamless way.

In four sizes for various configurations, Volum spreads light evenly in all directions, creating a new mode of interaction between users and light sources, in a full dialogue between light and space.

Each sphere visually incorporates the diffuser and the attachment in a homogenous, continuous structure, in which the transparent cable seems to vanish into space.

The upper part of the glass is cut at 45 degrees, permitting closure with a translucent methacrylate cap. The cap contains and conceals the metal part that holds the light source: the only visible element is a small opening for easy insertion of the cable, which helps to balance the sphere. All for a relaxing, harmonious atmosphere.
