A must is therefore to let oneself be influenced by the creativity and design of these two continents, investigating the relationship between heritage and modernity, new technologies and craftsmanship. A proof is also offered by the exhibition curated, for Latin America, by the Campana brothers, Humberto and Fernando, designers with a long history in the social recovery of the marginalized, and, for Africa, by the Franco-Moroccan designer Hicham Lahlou, founder of the Africa Design Award & Days.
The projects will be competing for the ninth edition of the SaloneSatellite Award, which rewards the three best products presented.
For the first time this year the SaloneSatellite joins the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018, event launched by the European Commission and managed and coordinated in Italy by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage (Mibact), which supports those who work on the European cultural heritage and promotes an increasing awareness of the sector as a resource and an asset for the European economy.
Africa and Latin America inspire emerging design
At its 21st edition SaloneSatellite the limelight is on emerging design, not only because of the 650 young designers invited to participate in the event, but also for the theme that acts as inspirational moto: "Africa / Latin America: Rising Design".
