B&B Italia always more ‘en plein air’

B&B Italia features a strong commitment to continuity. A design continuity, in the uninterrupted and prolific expansion of a collection – the Outdoor collection – that since its creation has been able to stand out in the furnishing scene; but also a stylistic continuity, in the formal elaboration of a array of pieces that, designed for outdoor environments, keep the character, quality, comfort, and technological innovation that distinguish the brand’s indoor furnishings.
Born in 2007 with the Canasta family by Patricia Urquiola, B&B Italia Outdoor adds every year new elements and signatures from the international panorama, embracing a variety of products that includes sofas as well as chairs and tables, coffee tables and now even carpets.

Within the Imm Cologne exhibition the novelties of the collection are unveiled, new proposals designed by Doshi Levien and Naoto Fukasawa.
The British duo designs Bay, a collection of outdoor seats consisting of a sofa (available in two dimensions), armchair and high-backed armchair, featuring a sculptural and monolithic appearance, at the same time visually gentle. The structure (made of polypropylene fiber) is formed by a double weave that creates “air pockets” that donate transparency and lightness. Also by Doshi Levien the new outdoor version of Tabour, large poufs presented in the indoor version in 2016, with a peculiar elongated oval and square shape, distinguished by the oversized ‘button’ that acts as a tray, whilst stretching the fabrics on the padded structure.

From the creative mind of the Japanese designer Naoto Fukasawa Fiore, is born a series of round and square tables available in two heights, made of concrete (white and greige). ” Fiore (in English Flower) because it is a table flanked by Papilio chairs which recall delicate butterflies flying around the table,” says the designer.

The collection is completed by two new Twist and Kaleido rugs, specially designed for outdoor use, made of polyofine in different sizes; the first one is characterized by a single-color interwoven motif in six solid colors (tan, green, taupe, gray, anthracite, blue); the second, a multicolored blend that perfectly coordinates with the colors of the outdoor collection.
