ADI Design Index 2017: pre-selections now on display

The ADI Design Index 2017 exhibition was inaugurated on October 9th at the Leonardo da Vinci National Museum of Science and Technology, during the Milan Fall Design Week and will move to Acquario Romano, Rome, on October 26th. The exhibition set-up project is by Gumdesign studio and features 204 Italian design products, selected by members of the ADI Permanent Design Observatory.

These products will be submitted to the jury of the XXV Compasso d’Oro ADI in 2018, along with those from ADI Design Index 2016, which  examine products pre-selected in the two previous years, on a biennial basis.

All exhibits distinguish themselves in virtue of the fundamental qualities of quality and responsibility, the finest products presented in 13 entry categories, from furniture to lamps, vehicles to personal objects, materials to components for architecture, graphics, the design of services and social design which has recently taken its rightful place on the Italian design scene.

The highest number of selected entries are from Design for living (including  AKB_08 by Arrital, Aplomb Large by Foscarini, Caos by Officine Tamborrino, Cucina Air by Lago, Discovery by Artemide, Milà by Magis, Nikolatesla by Elica, Origami by Tubes, Piuma by Kartell, Regolo by Ceadesign, Tweed by Unopiù); Design of materials and technological systems (worthy of particular mention we have Sail by Rimadesio, Color Now Dot Rame by Fap Ceramiche), Research for enterprise (including Communication R-Evolution by B&B Italia, Cutlery for All by Alessi, Introverso by Antoniolupi), and in the section dedicated to Theoretic-historic-critical research and editorial projects (with Amare Gio Ponti by Molteni&C, New Craft by Fondazione La Triennale di Milano, Rimadesio60. Storie, Sfide, Talenti di Rimadesio). In addition to the aforementioned, communication distinguishes between the graphic project sector and exhibition design, exhibition set-up projects, of particular cultural and educational value, including Relazioni by Paola Lenti and Bestetti Associali for Paola Lenti and Reality or Illusion by studio Laviani for Foscarini, Casa Italia Rio 2016 by Coni Servizi. The Targa Giovani also continues as a special category.
