Sperimentalism on display at the Design Museum

As it does every year, the London Design Museum is taking part in the exciting London Design Festival with a packed programme of events from 16 to 24 September. Among these will be an encounter with Hella Jongerius, the Dutch designer who has based and developed her career on colour and who has long collaborated with top-notch brands like Vitra. Her chromatic experiments feature in the personal exhibition currently being staged in the museum “Breathing Colour”.

Waiting to be discovered on the second floor of the London Design Museum in Kensington is the installation “Laufen – A curated Art Show. What?”: twelve international designers, from the volcanic Patricia Urquiola to the acclaimed Konstantin Grcic, were invited by the Swiss bathroom brand Laufen to explore the potential of ceramic material, using new shapes and techniques. The result is 18 works never before exhibited that encompass design, abstract and figurative art, technology, three-dimensional printers and computer numerical control machines, ancient artisan know-how and sculptural mastery.
