It was April in 2007 when, for the first time, visitors to Milan’s Salone del Mobile received an edition of Il Foglio del Mobile at the entrance to the trade fair.
Since then, 10 years have passed. Ten years marked by small steps that have seen the magazine at the gates of the Salone commanding more than 28 markets as media partner of over 60 organizations in the sector. From a handy tabloid to an elegant glossy magazine, the priority aim has always been the same: to take the excellence of Made in Italy Luxury&Design to the world.
To celebrate this course, Paolo Bleve, the moving spirit of the magazine, together with his team, wanted to organise an event that would bring the Italian furniture system in relation with contemporary art, involving the companies that have accompanied and sustained the magazine over the years.
This gave rise to “2007 – 2017 – A Decade of Evolution in Design”: a project developed in strict collaboration with the Brera Academy of Fine Arts and some students in the faculties of painting, sculpture, scenography, decoration, graphics and new technologies coordinated by professor Andrea Del Guercio.
Students were asked to redesign some iconic pieces of companies such as Angelo Cappellini&C., Asnaghi Interiors, Citterio F.lli, DL Decor, Giorgio Collection, Jumbo Collection, Lapalma, MDF Italia, MisuraEmme, Moroso, Natuzzi, Nube, Opera Contemporary, Poliform, Porada, Riva 1920 and Visionnaire, and transform them into unique works of art, inspired by the sartorial values, attention to detail, freshness and internationalism that have always marked the activities of IFDM.
The project will culminate with an exhibition open to the public from the 15th to the 25th of June 2017 at the Fondazione Stelline in Corso Magenta 61 in Milan, with a preview during the Milan Design Week, wednesday 5th April 2017.
