Clear sky, two seagulls fly to unexplored places, the suggestive, New Yorker skyline: those are the characters of the new textile collection Sky-Line by Marta Ferri, realized by Molteni&C exclusively for Luisaviaroma. The concept store in Florence will devote its window display to this special project, illustrating it via a video installation, in order to sell it on luisaviaroma.com.
Marta Ferri, making her debut in the world of furnishings, is the talented young Italian couturier behind Molteni&C’s textile research and the designer of the 2016 Sky-Line collection. So, alongside the Materia textile collection, inspired by the world of Nature – which Molteni&C will be presenting at the Salone del Mobile – comes the digital print Sky-Line suggested by the iconic skyscrapers of New York, where Marta has lived. The texture owes a debt of gratitude to the silk printing tradition of the Como area, where Marta Ferri has conducted in-depth research in the archives of Italy’s leading textile manufacturers.
Thus, the best seller Glove – the chair designed by Patricia Urquiola – two different decorative cushions, a desk-pad and the iconic Panna Cotta table (by Ron Gilad) turn blue and they appear alongside the model Yana Dobrolyubova during the promotional shooting.
Two different patterns for the pillows, one with the white skyline, the other with the blu sky, occupied only by two seagulls. The hi-tech frame of Glove, coupled with strategic padding pulled tight by a slim metallic structure, leaves the monochrome to welcome New York in limited pieces. Otherwise, Panna Cotta indirectly recalls the digital print, turning blue its exclusive sodalite marble.
