The furniture producer Materia is well-known for innovative design with the user in focus and carefully selected materials and manufacturing methods. Something that ́s noticeable through the Newcomer award. Every year a young designer is chosen, a designer whose idea deserves to become reality and a part of the Materia range.
This year’s Newcomer is Kaja Solgaard Dahl. She is a trained designer at Beckmans in Stockholm and has a master ́s degree in Design for Luxury and Craftsmanship from ECAL in Lausanne, Switzerland. Her designs are based on artistic research and a good story. The aim is to create furniture which pushes boundaries. Kaja Solgaard Dahl has just started her professional career, but has already found time to make an impression on the design scene.
Kaja’s contribution to the Materia range is called Lean In.
A piece of furniture which challenges the conventional way of using the interior and gives form to a natural behaviour – leaning while standing up.
Lean In is wall-mounted and forms an invitingly soft support for the body. It is ideal in areas with limited space or rooms where you spend short periods or want to create new ways of moving and interacting.
