New openings: 5 must-visit showrooms

New retail spaces are opening up for Milano Design Week. Here are five that deserve a visit

Milano Design Week and the Fuorisalone constitute a great opportunity to open new showrooms. The already dense map of design destinations in the center of Milan – which has already grown substantially since Milano Design City last September – now welcomes a series of new design hubs.

We have already informed you about the Antolini MilanoDuomo Stoneroom, as one of the most eagerly awaited openings, together with that of D Studio, which for the first time brings together all the brands of the Design Holding group (namely B&B Italia, Maxalto, Azucena, ArclineabFlos and Louis Poulsen).

Now we’ll take a look at five companies that have created new destinations Milan.

Bottega Ghianda
Via Pisoni, 2

Dark, enveloping colors for the new showroom of Bottega Ghianda, designed by Romeo Sozzi, to set off the precious creations produced in the brand’s workshops. The store with an area of 170 sqm faces the street with two large windows on the ground floor; the mezzanine is divided between displays and offices, while the lower level hosts a more exclusive display area. For the opening of this new store, Bottega Ghianda will be showing the new collection for 2021, and an original project in collaboration with Philippe Starck.

Bross Monforte (in partnership with Axolight)
Corso Monforte, 16

Marco Zito and Omri Revesz have designed a fluid space for the new Bross Monforte showroom, ideally formulated as a multifunctional lobby that also contains all the project types associated with the company’s collections (the brand celebrates its 40th anniversary this year). In the space – open by appointment and created for architects, interior designers, buyers and professionals – architecture plays a decisive role: an enclosure of 120 sqm, continuous and pure, paced by niches and curved fixtures to accompany the gaze of visitors towards the outside, into two courtyards. This is also the setting for the solutions of Axolight, the partner of Bross Monforte in the enhancement of the décor.

Laufen Space, Milan
Laufen Space, Milan

Laufen Space Milano
Via Manzoni 23

Laufen is back in Milan, on the second floor of an elegant building on Via Manzoni. Designed by Matteo Fiorini with Studio LYS, the new Laufen Space will host a temporary installation for the opening, created by the same designers with the provocative title “Am I Open-Minded?”. In the suspended display, Laufen products are scattered in the space like sculptures in a museum; an evocative, immersive digital experience is provided at the entrance by a large wall of LED screens, featuring images of a virtual world, created by the experiential designer Annabelle Schneider based on a project by the architects Gabrielle Hächler and Andreas Fuhrimann.

Porcelanosa Milano
Porcelanosa Milano

Porcelanosa
Piazza Castello, 19

In the heart of the city, Porcelanosa opens a new urban store, reflecting the eclectic character of the Spanish company. The space contains all the brands of the group, offering a selection of the latest trends in ceramic floors and facings, natural materials, kitchens, bathrooms, as well as construction solutions, for private clients or professionals in the world of architecture and interior design.

RBM More
Via Solferino, 15

Via Solferino is the location of the new showroom of RBM More, a new operative unit of R.B.M. S.p.A., the Brescia-based company that is a reference point in the hydrothermal sector, embodying a concept of “wellbeing” based on innovative climate comfort systems. The space – designed by Marco Carini – resembles an art gallery, an itinerary in which the technologies of RBM More directly interact with guests, making it easy to understand the functioning of the systems, essential part of the flow but not the protagonists of the space.
