At the intersection of design and decoration, as well as art and technology, InkPoster Duna is all this and much more. This innovative project by Pininfarina and InkPoster does not fit into traditional categories; instead, it draws from multiple fields to create an original and unprecedented product. At first glance, it resembles an artistic painting, evoking the sensory warmth of paper; on closer inspection, it reveals the appeal of the digital world, with its dynamism and precision. InkPoster Duna is, in fact, the largest color ePaper art poster ever created in the world.

It is the result of a synergy between leading players in their respective fields: Pininfarina for the frame design; InkPoster, which developed a new category of displays for digital art that combine the tactile authenticity of paper with the flexibility of digital change; and PocketBook, the Swiss company behind the InkPoster brand, which brings nearly twenty years of experience in Electronic Paper (for those less familiar, this is a display technology designed to mimic the appearance of ink on paper, offering significant advantages, from visual comfort to low energy consumption). From this shared vision comes a product that goes beyond what we know today, introducing new expressive possibilities for interiors.

InkPoster Duna redefines the concept of wall art. Equipped with an E-Ink Spectra 6 display in A1 format, it commands space with an overall width of over one meter. The frame echoes Pininfarina’s iconic automotive design: fluid, aerodynamic, and sophisticated lines create a subtle curvature across the metal surface – a metaphor for movement and precision; the visually minimal perimeter edge enhances its overall lightness; and the Alcantara covering, with its soft tactility, recalls the interiors of high-end automobiles. It made its debut at Milan Design Week inside the Reflex showroom, presented in three different Alcantara finishes: Light, Dark, and Brown.

InkPoster Duna thus transforms the way digital art is experienced: it has the presence of a gallery masterpiece, yet its ability to transform an environment is unmatched. Connected to the InkPoster app, it provides access to thousands of curated artworks, while the collaboration with Pininfarina adds a rare selection of exclusive design sketches drawn from the studio’s creative archives.

The benefits extend beyond aesthetics to sustainable and comfortable living. This art frame is completely wireless, allowing displays to be hung freely without outlets or cables; it consumes energy only when the image is updated – one charge can last up to a year, while the artwork remains visible even when the device is fully powered off.

Moreover, thanks to advanced ePaper technology, the display eliminates the glare typical of traditional screens and delivers natural color depth and visual comfort. Images are formed by millions of tiny ink capsules that physically rearrange to create colors and details, resulting in a calm, paper-like surface – even at monumental scale. The artworks are not backlit, emit no blue light, heat, or flicker, and respond naturally to ambient lighting, just like prints.

“By combining our global and cross-regional expertise in both product design and architecture, we have created more than just a standalone object,” says Nicola Girotti, Head of Product Design at Pininfarina. “We have developed a design element that harmonizes perfectly with contemporary interior design trends and integrates seamlessly into sophisticated architectural spaces.”
