Blending design and spirituality, during MDW 2026 the Sahrai showroom at Via Manzoni 38 is transformed into something akin to a sanctuary. Inner Soul is an experience where, the moment you step inside, you leave behind the urban noise of an increasingly stimulus-packed event and are invited to reconnect, through a state of calm, with the very origin of beauty. More precisely, it highlights the allure of centuries-old traditions in hand-knotted rug making, which the brand reinterprets through a modern lens in its refined new collections: Mamounia by Sahrai and Traces of Order by SLD. Andrea Bonini.

Here, texture takes center stage, encouraging visitors to pause, touch, and breathe as they move through the space, embracing a slower, more mindful rhythm. A carefully curated path evokes desert dunes, the exploration of ancient cities, and a peaceful refuge, leading to a rediscovery of the history of hand-knotted rugs made from pure wool. It becomes a true sensory experience, a reconnection with natural rhythms through local traditions.

The Mamounia collection pays tribute to Berber rugs, featuring simple yet enveloping designs that range from geometric patterns to freer, more organic forms, always rendered in neutral tones that enhance their primitive and timeless character. Originally crafted by tribal populations to withstand the harsh climate of the Atlas Mountains, these rugs were long-pile, thick, and decorated with simple motifs passed down through generations. They were used as bed mats, floor coverings, and even on horse saddles.

The Traces of Order series, designed by SLD Andrea Bonini, featuring models such as Modulus, Jian, Atrium, and Vestige, celebrates the rug as a narrative surface capable of defining space, exploring a concept of order not as a rigid rule but as something perceptual. It also draws inspiration from the delicate geometries of historic residential interiors and the understated elegance of the early 20th century. The result is a visual harmony that creates a calm and reassuring atmosphere. At its core, the Inner Soul experience seeks emotional expression and a deeper exploration of meaning, engaging all the senses, from the softness of rugs under your hands, to the scents of incense and candles, to delicate soundscapes and warm, enveloping light. These transitions guide visitors toward a profound spiritual connection, ultimately touching their innermost essence.
