Icons mark time without being subject to it. This is what happens with Marazzi’s Grande Lume collection, through which the brand takes a decisive step forward in its exploration of ceramics as a living, luminous, and ever-evolving material.

The new collection stems from the idea of expanding the essence of Crogiolo Lume onto an unprecedented scale. The result is a surface that preserves the artisanal soul of its origins while translating it into large-format slabs capable of redefining architectural space. This marks a further step in full continuity with the experimentation on formats already introduced with the 10×10 cm variant, which – also thanks to the striking 3D Dew décor -enhances the craftsmanship and attention to detail that define the line.

At the core of the project lies ceramic in its purest form: a fluid material that recalls the natural processes of the earth. Color is never uniform but emerges through layering, density, and light. The glossy surfaces of Grande Lume capture and reflect light with surprising depth, featuring veiling effects, denser areas, and more transparent zones that create dynamic chromatic results.

The palette unfolds in deep tones – Obsidian, Malachite, Petroleum, Cobalt, Magma, Pumice – evoking minerals, molten earth, and liquid reflections. Each color has a distinct identity while maintaining a material coherence that allows for the design of continuous, luminous, and visually cohesive spaces. Once again, Marazzi reaffirms its ability to create a dialogue between technology and aesthetic sensitivity: porcelain stoneware, suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, becomes a medium for telling the very origin of ceramics – a material born from the earth, capable of transforming into luminous and contemporary surfaces.

The collection debuts in the renovated Marazzi showroom in Milan, at 2 Via Borgogna, redesigned for Design Week, and at Salone del Mobile.Milano, where the company presents the concept The Material Lounge. Acting as a common thread between the two projects is Grande Lume itself.

The exhibition space, located in the heart of the design district, becomes an immersive environment where materials, colors, and surfaces interact fluidly. The new layout features a dining area that engages in dialogue with the Poliedrica project, while the window display opens onto a large convivial table around which the space is organized, accompanied by coordinated elements and designer seating. At the center is a sensory experience: light, reflections, and perspectives guide visitors through installations that enhance the three-dimensionality and chromatic richness of the slabs. At the fair, meanwhile, the company presents The Material Lounge, designed by Il Magma: inspired by the intimate atmosphere of Japanese listening bars, the project focuses on slow time, sensory experience, and human connection, creating an environment where light and material engage in a continuous dialogue. With Grande Lume – and its key presentations – Marazzi reaffirms its vision: a design born from its ability to elevate itself into surfaces that define the identity of contemporary spaces.
