In a region where design continues to evolve despite challenges, Altus stands as a testament to resilience, craftsmanship, and a commitment to elevated living. The luxury furniture destination has long been known for bringing world-class design to Lebanon, and with the opening of its new showroom in Downtown Beirut dedicated to Cattelan Italia, the brand marks another milestone in its journey. The story of Altus traces back to the 1950s, when brothers Georges and Antoine Matta transformed a small artisanal furniture workshop into a growing business. What began as a modest venture soon expanded into a respected name within Lebanon’s furniture industry, eventually growing to include six branches across the country. Over the decades, the Matta family cultivated a reputation built on craftsmanship, trust, and a deep understanding of the evolving needs of homeowners and designers.

In 2014, Ziad Matta brought a new vision to the legacy by launching Altus, an exclusive concept showroom dedicated to high-end, avant-garde furniture. Drawing on his experience in the mid-range market, he recognized Lebanon’s increasing appetite for sophisticated design and created a space where luxury interiors could be experienced in a new way.
Today, Altus spans over 4,000 square meters and reflects more than four generations of expertise in the luxury interior market across the Middle East and beyond. The showroom brings together an exceptional selection of international brands known for their craftsmanship and design excellence, including Baxter, Edra, Frigerio, Desiree, Lema, Visionnaire, Rugiano, Talenti, Saba Italia, Mogg, Walter Knoll, Classicon, Draenert, Expormim, and Ethnicraft.

The newly opened space dedicated to Cattelan Italia adds another dimension to this offering. Known for its sculptural furniture, refined materials, and contemporary Italian design language, Cattelan Italia perfectly complements Altus’ philosophy of merging artistry with functionality. The new showroom allows visitors to fully immerse themselves in the brand’s aesthetic while exploring pieces that redefine modern interiors. Beyond showcasing furniture, Altus aims to create an environment that feels closer to a home than a traditional showroom. By bringing multiple luxury brands under one roof, the space invites visitors to imagine complete living environments rather than individual objects.

Altus also provides a full range of turnkey design and consultancy services, supporting clients across the Middle East with projects ranging from new developments to restorations and refurbishments. With a team experienced in both interior and exterior design, every project is approached with a holistic perspective. At its core, Altus remains committed to combining European craftsmanship, contemporary design, and a dedication to quality. With the opening of its Cattelan Italia showroom in Downtown Beirut, the brand continues to reinforce its role as a key destination for luxury interiors in the region.
