Weaving Tales are the new rug collections designed by Elisa Ossino for Amini. Here, traditional weaves and high-quality yarns redefine the contemporary rug. The Ritagli, Numeri Primi, Writers collections, and the I Mari della Luna artworks reveal a unified design vision, centered on sustainability, innovation, and craftsmanship. Elisa Ossino, in her fourth year as artistic director, continues a bold dialogue between innovation and textile heritage, creating pieces that transcend mere decorative function.

The “Ritagli” rugs emerge from hand-drawn shapes, as if subtracted from the material itself. Crafted from precious Afghan wools, they feature a subtly “crinkled” effect that enhances the fibers’ natural quality. New color variations, including one made from nettle, reflect the natural nuances of the wool, celebrating the material’s authenticity.

Elisa Ossino’s “Numeri Primi” collection explores natural materials and ancient weaving techniques. Each piece is a unique work, the result of an unrepeatable creative process. Key elements are yarns of cotton, wool, hemp, silk, and vegetable fibers, dyed with natural pigments that evoke the hues of earth, wood, and stone. This exploration of weaves highlights the potential of natural materials, promoting a sustainable approach and a deep connection with the environment.

The “Writers” rugs, entirely hand-woven from New Zealand wool, see the design emerge from the skillful repetition of the weave itself. The rug’s structure becomes a mark, a texture that repeats, intensifies, and expands, transforming into a woven landscape where form and material, always inspired by nature, converge.

The “I Mari della Luna” artworks are conceived as unique pieces to be hung on walls. Based on the concept of hollowing out and perforating thick wool, these “metaphysical” creations evoke profound global changes and reflect on circular economy practices. “Mare Imbrium” features geometric markings; “Mare Tranquillitatis” recalls lunar craters; “Mare Insularum” alludes to continental drift and the unity required to address climate change. All rugs are hand-knotted.
