Ceramiche Refin explores the expressive power of ceramic material through technical experimentation that enhances its aesthetics and design potential. Ceramiche Refin – an established company since 1962 and part of the Concorde Group – brings together its most daring collections in the Iconic Design line, the result of research carried out by its in-house laboratory, the beating heart and creative hub of the company. Combining technological innovation and a craftsman’s approach, these collections reinterpret ceramic material to showcase its infinite decorative and functional possibilities. The result is original patterns, surprising inspirations, and eclectic styles that can be used to create ever-new and personal interior designs. This vision also gave rise to the new Ink collection, with which Ceramiche Refin transforms a graphic trait into a distinctive and characterful mark.

Ink reproduces a freehand, instinctive, and natural mark on the stoneware surface, as if it were the result of a fluid flow of thoughts, which then evolves into closely spaced micro-strokes to form a vibrant and disruptive decorative motif. Its value lies in the imperfect beauty of the resulting pattern, which is both familiar and sensory at the same time. The echo is that of a spontaneous and intimate gesture, but its essential texture also reveals oriental references, a rhythmic modularity that invites meditation. This texture therefore reflects a design that goes beyond decoration and transforms the surface into an authentic visual language.

Inspired by the Iconic Design line, Ink combines the craftsmanship of freehand drawing with the precision of industrial technology. The graphic marks, arranged in varying directions and densities, create ever-changing effects of light and depth. The perception of the pattern varies depending on the viewing distance – close, medium, or far – revealing new levels of complexity and compositional richness each time. Similarly, the arrangement and orientation of the tiles generate ever-changing visual effects, amplifying the dynamism of the surface. The 80x80cm format emphasizes the fluidity of the pattern.

The relationship between the spontaneous naturalness of the pattern and the complexity of the inner world is also recreated through the color palette. The three neutral shades (white, gray, and black), the three warm, saturated shades (earth, powder, beige), and the two deep, introspective shades (blue, green) are inspired by moods and evoke the emotional dimension of the collection. The texture, enhanced by the gloss, is multisensory and deep to the touch.

Thanks to this unique identity, the Ink collection was awarded the ADI Ceramics & Bathroom Design Award 2025 at Cersaie. The collection was recognized for its “rigorous design and perceptive research, making the decoration an integral part of the material,” thus creating a “coherent and controlled visual experience” thanks to the balance between design and sensory quality.
