In the E19 apartment project, the Malfinio studio adopted an architectural approach even in the interior design, transforming the space into a fluid and immersive experience. The rooms are traversed as if walking through a gallery, in a continuous dialogue between volumes and voids. The spaces are distinguished by their openness, lightness, and simplicity, with essential furnishings that give prominence to the structure itself.

The vertical walls do not merely define boundaries but create directives, orchestrating a composition of precious materials and integrated systems that protect, organize, and conceal with extreme modernity. Martina Homolková – the founder of the studio – indeed revived and emphasized the original spirit of the apartment and the building, one of the first functionalist-style buildings in Prague.

After the renovation, the ample diffusion of natural light highlighted the empty spaces, revealing their essence. This principle was preserved and enhanced by the architect and designer in the furnishings project. The entire environment develops around a central “box”, a system of cabinetry and wainscoting that integrates two storage rooms and a wardrobe at the entrance, the kitchen hidden behind folding doors, and two small bathrooms. The MDF surfaces, conceived as an extensive white canvas, become the support for the pictorial work imagined by artist Klára Spišková – one of the many pieces of art that enrich the scene. Around this architectural center, living, dining, and relaxation spaces, bedroom, and study are arranged.
Skillful combinations of colors and materials add energy to the purity of the space. Shades of pink travel through the space at the edges, from the sofa upholstery in the living area to the curtains by Linda Kaplanová framing the bedroom, to the terracotta hues of the bathrooms.

Plays of light and shadow traverse the apartment, but also between the interior and exterior of the “container” box. The chromatic delicacy contrasts with the material presence of metals and mirrors, used on a large scale. The project emphasizes connectivity – spatial, material, and chromatic – and takes advantage of long views in a play of light and reflections.
