The creations of the LcD collection are a dreamlike journey, much like the incredible beginning of the creator’s career. Born in Belgium, Luc Druez studied music at the Brussels Conservatory, and his path seemed set: grand concerts on stages around the world. During one of these performances, the incredible happened: Luc experienced a sudden memory lapse that led him to seek another form of artistic expression, allowing him to convey his work physically instead of being just the memory of a sound.

Inspiration came from his grandfather, a tailor: producing textile creations would become the new means of expressing his creative soul. The LcD collections — the first of which was presented in Paris in 1995 at the Marine Biras Textile Gallery — are all handmade and feature a constant that makes them unique masterpieces: they are composed of unique fibers like fishing lines, raffia, rubber, copper, and horsehair woven using the jacquard technique. The often experimental combination of natural fibers and techniques makes all the creations of the collection iconic.

The current collection is dedicated to light. All the fabrics are translucent and can be used both in spaces around windows, in transparent environments (such as curtains, screens, dividers), on walls or for seating… or even for creating spectacular garments in high fashion and theater, or fashion accessories such as hats and bags. Woven in high-tech specialized laboratories, the LcD collection is suitable for both private home decoration and large-scale requirements in the hotel industry that demand technical standards and customized images (patterns, colors, etc.).

The fabrics, in limited editions, are produced in small-scale workshops in Belgium, France, and Italy. Luc Druez’s creations enhance the high end luxury brands shop windows of Christian Dior, Chanel, Cartier, Yves Saint Laurent, Messika, Louis Vuitton, Van Cleef & Arpels, have appeared in theater and opera, and in projects by the greatest decorators like Peter Marino, Andrée Putman, Elliot Barnes, Bruno Moinard, Curiosity, Chahan.

Since 1995, LcD has been present at the most important fairs: Paris «Maison & Objet» and «Revelations Biennale», Milan (Design Week Fuori Salone), London (100% Design), Miami (Alcova Art Basel), Palm Springs (Modernism week) Shanghai (Design Shanghai), Singapore (Maison & Objet) , New York (ICFF), Monaco (Yacht Show).

Luc Druez also acts as art direction consultant for numerous textile companies and educational institutions. His original works can be found in public and private collections. Looking to the future, LcD will participate in the upcoming biennial Revelations in Paris from 21 to 25 May, presenting a new collection focusing on natural flame retardant fibres.

This innovative collection, combining safety and sustainability, will come to life through a visionary installation entitled Oriental Nomad. The installation will pay tribute to the richness of nomadic cultures and their deep connection with nature, offering visitors an immersive experience that celebrates the fusion of tradition and cutting-edge textile technology.
