Timeless design, functional and expressive lines, unique pieces designed to represent a contemporary culture in constant transformation, created to provide elegant solutions to the needs of modern life. This is the essence of Kettal, a Spanish company renowned for its focus on outdoor furniture. Among the new offerings, the brand presents the Insula collection, created by Patricia Urquiola—a refined and versatile line suitable for both indoor and outdoor settings thanks to its style and transversal concept.

The core of the project is its extreme modularity, inspired by the Arabic concept of “majlis“, a space specifically intended for gatherings to chat, receive guests, and entertain friends on designated seating. The aim is to enhance sharing and reinterpret it in a modern way. The sofa features soft shapes and rational lines, with a rolled backrest that emphasizes the horizontality of the design. The carefully balanced proportions give the sofa an architectural element that can perfectly integrate into any environment.

The modular design of the Insula sofa is based on an orthogonal aluminum structure, featuring very fluid lines and an extremely comfortable seat cushion. The seats are available in two sizes, allowing for the use of different types of backrests: individual, double, corner, and so on. This flexibility allows for customized compositions that meet the specific needs of each space and occasion.

While its primary function is to encourage conversation, this goal is fulfilled through its numerous variations and different compositions, allowing the creation of private or workspaces, such as a reception area in an office or an outdoor seating area for sunbathing and relaxing.

The Insula collection by Kettal represents a perfect balance between tradition and innovation, combining historical inspiration with a contemporary and functional design, while also considering sustainability throughout the entire production process—in the use of materials and the production phases. It’s an ideal solution for multifunctional furniture that can transform any space into a welcoming environment.
