Bredaquaranta is a company active in the furniture sector (from retail to interior design and installation), with numerous showrooms in Milan and partnerships with some prestigious brands in its flagship store in the Lombard capital.
In 2018 the company decided to expand in Asia, opening a branch in Shanghai in 2020. Today, after the careful renovation of a historic building in the city’s former French Concession, it moves to this area of great charm and tourist attraction (and more), opening here the Breraquaranta Design Studio. The choice of this area follows the desire to create a synergy between the contemporary style typical of this unique metropolis and the Italian aesthetic.
The showroom has three floors divided into rooms where design and art together create a unique lifestyle. Each floor of the house is like a stage set, where the furnishings, the works on display and the objects chosen to complement them change according to the functions of the spaces and the emotions they wish to evoke.
On the first floor, the warm white palette contrasts with the roughness of the adobe walls to frame Xiao Changzheng’s wooden sculptures, Liu Zhengyong’s abstract paintings, and Lin Yan’s paintings. On the second floor, the Meeting Room and the Cigar Room integrate elements of Italian art from the 1960s and 70s: here, each room is divided by color dominants with a passionate, energetic and luxurious character.
On the third and top floor is the Art Bar, designed as a place for interaction between clients, designers and artists, but also as an incubator of ideas: a colorful space, a tribute to the German artist Carsten Höller. Art director Zhang Tingli curates the works for Bredaquaranta Design Studio.
