Downtown Design Dubai, in the heart of the Dubai Design District (d3), is the event around which Dubai Design Week revolves. An event in which Sahrai Milano, brand of international prominence in the creation of luxury carpets, will participate again this year with its latest projects (booth C4). The company, founded in 1830, has its heart in Milan, the world capital of design. In its almost two hundred years of history, it has followed a long path of innovation, both aesthetically and in terms of production methods and materials. The result of this long evolution is the ability to combine cutting-edge ideas with respect for tradition.

One of the main attractions in the exhibition is the Underwaterlife collection, designed for yachts and summer residences, with natural shades accentuated by touches of gold, fuchsia, emerald green, deep and vivid blues. Decorative motifs evoke the sea, tropical vegetation and a stylized, dreamy Orient.

Another important presence is the collaboration with Elie Saab Maison, an international couture signature with offices in Beirut and Paris. Over the years, Elie Saab has become a lifestyle brand with its idea of refined elegance. And the Elie Saab Maison rug collection distills traditional Middle Eastern decorative elements and transports them into a contemporary aesthetic, where delicate geometries – like distant mirages – evoke plants (as in the Serena rug), landscapes and architecture.

There will also be two new creations – Trinity and Trilogy Green – from the Noor collection, with a contemporary soul and sophisticated design. An idea of discreet, whispered luxury that is acknowledged in the details and the quality of the materials. These hand-knotted rugs feature a unique geometric design reminiscent of Najdi motifs, typical of the traditional architecture of the Arabian Peninsula.

Speaking of materials, an important aspect, albeit less visible than others, is that of raw material research. In line with an idea of ethical responsibility that is particularly relevant today, the brand has introduced innovative fibers such as PET, jute and polished cotton. This approach also allows Sahrai to create products that are pleasant to the touch and durable, while ensuring an environmentally sustainable production process.

This is the context in which the 6th Gen Collection was born, conceived by the sixth generation of the Sahrai family, with a marked sense of openness to contemporary interior design trends: it is a way of thinking about the future, right now. The collection is represented by Rossini Bronze, a rug traversed by slightly irregular marks that create a diamond pattern. It could be an abstract artist’s drawing or an ancestral motif. Past and future meet to create something that goes beyond time.
