Florim, in collaboration with architect Matteo Thun, presents SensiTerre, a collection of surfaces that reinterprets the ancient art of clay through a contemporary lens. This collection is a tribute to Italian craftsmanship tradition and represents a significant advancement in the design industry. SensiTerre was created to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the “Venere Bianca” vases, a series of terracotta works designed by Matteo Thun and Benedetto Fasciana. These vases, handcrafted by expert ceramists, echo the simplicity of archetypal forms and pay homage to the female figure. Inspired by textures created by imprints, combings, and engravings, these vases express the intrinsic beauty of Italian craftsmanship, harking back to the mastery of Renaissance workshops.
The wonder of SensiTerre lies in its ability to translate the art of “handmade” into a modern architectural form. Matteo Thun and Benedetto Fasciana have skillfully blended traditional Italian craftsmanship with the advanced technologies of Industry 4.0. The result is a series of surfaces that serve as creative tools for architects and designers, enhancing the “Made in Italy” concept with refinement and modernity. The warm colors and varied surfaces of SensiTerre embody the aesthetic vision of the project.
The collection explores the elegance of details, with tones ranging from Cotton to Charcoal, each representing a specific chromatic intent. The textured surfaces, combined with the modular formats, allow for the creation of unique and personal spaces, merging history and modernity. This versatility makes SensiTerre ideal for contract projects, thanks to the ability to combine customization and functionality to meet specific needs.
In today’s landscape, environmental responsibility is a fundamental pillar. The SensiTerre collection stands out for its commitment to the environment. Produced in eco-friendly facilities, Florim recycles 100% of production waste and wastewater. Moreover, as a certified B Corp, Florim autonomously produces a large portion of the energy needed for its operations, purchasing the rest from certified renewable sources.
The SensiTerre collection is part of the CarbonZero project, offsetting all CO2 emissions over the lifecycle of its surfaces. SensiTerre features six natural clay colors, with four different finishes that offer both visual and tactile depth. The Naturale and Grana surfaces are available in all colors, while Cannettato and Rigatino are limited to Sand and Brown. These finishes evoke the millennia-old tradition of Roman ‘cocciopesto’ and recall the artisanal techniques of ancient ceramics. The SensiTerre collection by Florim and Matteo Thun is more than just a product line. It’s an expression of a harmonious fusion between tradition and innovation, between craftsmanship and advanced technology, offering an optimal solution for contract projects with a perfect balance between aesthetics, functionality, and sustainability.
