5 objects for reading

To create the right atmosphere thanks to design objects: this is the trick for full enjoyment of moments devoted to reading

Tolomeo by Artemide, design Michele De Lucchi & Giancarlo Fassina

From seating to proper lighting, reading a book calls for the presence of a series of objects to accompany this absorbing activity, in a perfect balance of functional quality and good looks.

The Lounge Chair was created by Charles & Ray Eames in the 1950s. Since then, it has been produced by Vitra, utilizing substantially the same methods. Today it is recognized as a great furniture design classic of the 20th century. Available in two sizes with various combinations of coverings, in leather or fabric. The bases and shells are in wood, and the item can be matched with a coordinated ottoman.

An icon of Italian design based on the ingenuity of Michele De Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassina, the Tolomeo lamp was launched on the market in 1987 by Artemide. Its design stands out for clean, minimalist lines, with an aluminium structure. The head of the lamp, adjustable in all directions, is equipped with a reflector in aluminium that ensures uniform light distribution, making this model ideal for various lighting needs.

Albero by Poltrona Frau, design Gianfranco Frattini

Gianfranco Frattini designed the Albero bookcase towards the end of the 1950s, a piece that has now been reissued by Poltrona Frau. The self-supporting, rotating bookcase, for free configurations, is formed by four vertical posts and two rack supports at the extremities, all in solid canaletto walnut. The shelves in wood fiber with canaletto walnut veneer can be freely positioned on the posts, from a minimum of eight to a maximum of twelve.

Libro bookend by Laufen
Plaid Bohemién by Lanerossi

For curling up with a good book, another must is the Bohemién blanket, part of the Collezione Lavabili Lanerossi. In pure cashmere, with a sophisticated paisley pattern, it comes in six different color solutions, from neutral tones of beige and camel to forceful shades of anthracite or bordeaux. The new collection is the result of research aimed at revolutionizing the concept of washing fine fabrics such as cashmere and merino wool, rather than using dry cleaning. The Laufen Home Collection offers a range of objects and accessories similar to small sculptures, including Libro, the book stand in ceramic, which adds a touch of elegance to spaces set aside for reading.
