Located on the coastline of Praia do Pego at Comporta, an exclusive destination facing the Atlantic, JNcQUOI Beach Club is the new project by the Belgian studio Vincent Van Duysen Architects that fits naturally into the Portuguese landscape. The sensual and rational design approach of VVDA, inspired by the vernacular architecture of the fishermen and local history, permeates every aspect of the club: from the parking area for bikes to the structure for the lifeguards, the beach cabins to the furnishings, which are all custom-made.
A wooden walkway leads visitors to the cabana and the restaurant. The latter’s interior features white walls clad in wood, cane ceilings and accents of terracotta and blue. The layout is essential but effective, with a large internal space below a vaulted ceiling and an outdoor terrace with a view of the ocean. Natural materials like stained wood, reeds and soft fabrics form the external enclosure. The fabrics screen the lounge and dining areas from sunlight, lightening up the visual impact of the structure.
The attention to detail of VVDA extends to all the furnishings and finishes, creating an elegant, relaxed atmosphere. The base tones echoing the surroundings and the sand are joined by fabrics in Klein blue and striped motifs.
