The September edition of Maison&Objet (5-9 September, Paris Nord Villepinte Exhibition Centre) opens tomorrow and the Parisian event announces a reorganization of the content of its two annual events. The January and September events will have different content for an audience whose needs have changed. According to the new concept, the January edition will focus on curation and the world of limited editions, with high-profile events and meetings, as well as links between the worlds of furniture and fashion.
In September, already in this edition, the event will strengthen its role as a talent scout for the emerging and innovative creative scene, also fuelled by the events of Paris Design Week. It will also be the month of the Cook&Share section, which will become an annual event with its own calendar of events. In addition to these two physical events, the role of the MOM online platform, which is active throughout the year as a large virtual showroom and event container, is confirmed.
“We are amplifying the distinct strengths of each of our two editions to take an even more specialized approach. By refining our ‘in’, ‘off’ and ‘online’ offerings, we are offering all participants in the design, decoration and lifestyle community a more effective choice according to their needs,” explains Mélanie Leroy, Managing Director of SAFI, the structure behind Maison&Objet, MOM and Paris Design Week.
This edition, at a glance: 2287 exhibitors (source: maison-objet.com) organized into 15 product or style sectors; 600 new brands participating; three What’s New? areas (Retail, Decor and Hospitality); and 40 meetings and conferences. The underlying theme, which will be expressed in the various stylistic research areas scattered throughout the exhibition, is Terra Cosmos: a vision of the future in a universal key, among new materials, new aesthetic languages and a touch of esotericism. Belgium’s Lionel Jadot is the Designer of the Year in the Hospitality category (new for this edition), while the Rising Talents Awards recognize six designers under the age of 35 from the Nordic nations of Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland and Iceland.
Paris Design Week (September 5-14) features 277 events throughout the city, divided into four main zones: Left Bank, the historic epicenter; Opéra/Concorde/Étoile; Marais/Bastille/République; and Palais-Royal/Place des Victoires/Pigalle, with exhibitions open to the public, often in glamorous locations. In addition, Paris Design Week Factory, now in its 14th edition, is a platform for the launch of young talents and is articulated in several spaces in the Marais.
