Reinventing craft: where traditional techniques meet innovative materials in outdoor design

Monolith & Magnolia by Poliform, design Emmanuel Gallina

The Monolith range of tables by Poliform has been inspired by the immutable and sculptural appearance of dolmen, (available in various sizes with tops in different shapes), and combines a slender top in Cementoskin® or basalt stone with the majestic aesthetic of the bases, in a triumph of rounded lines. This visual softness also returns in the Magnolia chairs, this time however given a feeling of lightness. Emmanuel Gallina has in fact been inspired by natural details such as the flowing lines of branches and the delicacy of a falling leaf for the outline of the structure of the chairs made from iroko, in black or natural finish.

Il Bruco by Paola Lenti (design Campana) is an outdoor seat with symmetrical side backrests, inspired by the round and elongated shape of the caterpillar. The upholstery is decorated with embroidery and machine stitching using yarns from the brand’s outdoor fabrics. For greater stability, the seat is ballasted inside with sandbags.

With Kilt by Marcello Ziliani, Ethimo complete their the lounge and dining collection with an outdoor bed dedicated to moments of outdoor relaxation. FSC certified teak is combined with natural rope worked by hand in a piece with simple lines and a contemporary design. The palette of natural colours emphasises the woven rope and the design of the frame. Resistant to the effects of weather, offering excellent performance in conditions of sun or rain, the Kilt outdoor bed measures 90 x 200 cm and can be completed with decorative cushions made from yarn-dyed hemp. The certified teak and natural fibre express the sustainable spirit of this piece.

Mediterraneo by Gervasoni, design Francesco Meda

The Mediterraneo collection by Francesco Meda for Gervasoni presents living products where the solidity of the teak structure contrasts with the generous padding of the seats. Teak is one of the most precious tropical woods with exceptional characteristics of hardness, workability and resistance to atmospheric agents, humidity and salt. The impermeability of the padding is guaranteed by the covering with polyester covers, treated with water-repellent and water-repellent products, and by the heat-sealed seams.

African atmospheres combined with high-tech design. This is the new CIRQL NU collection from Dedon designed by Werner Aisslinger. The designer has drawn on the company’s high-tech manufacturing skills to create artisan-inspired pieces that evoke the charm of African culture and furniture. The result is a collection of armchairs, lounge chairs, stools and tables with round, welcoming forms. Characterising the various elements is the woven Dedon fibre, derived from a process that combines two colours and types of fibre in a single yarn, generating attractive nuances of colour, different textures and geometric patterns with a 3D effect.

Ramun presents the Louise table lamp, designed by Jean Marie Massaud, a rechargeable battery-powered lamp with small dimensions. Its main feature is the light source, which can be static or vibrant like a candle flame. The lamp has a tubular shade in Stained PLA material, an elegant pleated dress that wraps around the light source, completed at the top by a thin ring that makes it easy to grip the object.
