MrX by Talenti, design Marco Acerbis

Talenti has achieved a rich and prestigious collection of medals this year. Goals and successes mark its path of growth and constant expansion both in creative and commercial terms. Last, in chronological order, the awarding of the renowned Compasso d’Oro ADI. The company specializing in the design and production of outdoor furniture has thus found ideal recognition for its design research – a synthesis of elegance, functionality, and quality – obtaining the most prestigious Italian award for industrial design, born from an idea by Giò Ponti and now in its 70th year of activity.

Talenti thus officially enters the annals of design with the new MrX shading system designed by Marco Acerbis. A furnishing accessory with a markedly architectural character, capable of shading the outdoor space with minimal footprint and modifying the experience en plein air which thus becomes interactive and dynamic. MrX, in fact, is characterized by an X-shaped structure that supports the shading curtain, but which can be opened and closed as needed.

The compass opening allows the total extension of the curtain (which reaches 4 x 4 meters) and creates a wide and pleasant shade, while with a simple and practical gesture you can slide the two legs of the structure one on top of the other so as to overlap. The result is a tailor-made oasis of relaxation, which once closed appears as a graphic sign with reduced volumes. Made of extruded aluminum and available in different color variants, the MrX system fits into the most varied contexts, from residential to hospitality with the same expressive and technological strength.

The designer says: “The goal was simple: to create an object that was two-dimensional, such as to disappear when closed, but three-dimensional when opened, so as to create a large and easily usable underlying protection space”. “The idea of a curtain that can be pulled out horizontally recalls the boom of sailing boats – continues Acerbis – and unites two worlds that look at each other, that of boating and the outdoors”.

The awarding of the Compasso d’Oro comes in a special year for Talenti, that of the 20th anniversary of the company’s foundation. Two decades of intense and profitable activity that have led the brand to consolidate in the sector at an international level: a presence in over 70 countries, a qualified and articulated sales network, five flagship stores between Holland, Spain, Belgium, Paris (with Talenti Studio) and Milan, lastly.

The Milanese flagship store was inaugurated to coincide with the anniversary celebrations. A 500sqm space in a prestigious location, in the central Via Manzoni, inside a historic building brought back to its former glory by Ludovica Serafini + Roberto Palomba. The location houses the brand’s new products in settings that recreate sophisticated open-air settings, immersed in a green world and illuminated by natural light that filters through the magical skylight.
