The delicate touch of Loro Piana fabrics lives on in a collection of furnishings whose design highlights refinement, warmth and sartorial prowess, also en plein air. This is the ideal behind the birth of Loro Piana Interiors, a series of elegant design offerings that shift the allure of the company’s exclusive fabrics into a realm of fine workmanship and timeless good looks. After the important collaborations with creative talents that have enriched the indoor collection, Loro Piana Interiors meets the challenge of convivial life in the open air, working with Exteta and Paola Navone Otto Studio. The outcome of this teamwork is the project The Delight Chairs, a collection of seating based on the reinterpretation of the classic director’s chair. Clad in the new outdoor fabrics of Loro Piana Interiors, The Delight Chairs raise a typology traditionally associated with seaside and vacation settings to the level of prestigious objects.

The focal point of the collection is the folding director’s chair, where every detail speaks of unique artistry: Paola Navone has designed soft lines with an extended armrest to accommodate a book, a glass or any object connected with relaxation; Exteta has shaped fine Sapelli mahogany, highlighting its subtle grain with matte or glossy finishes that have a surprisingly silky touch.

Loro Piana Interiors has also created a delicate range of outdoor fabrics – solid colors and patterns – that combine resistance to sunlight, water, chlorine and salt air with flameproofing properties and a pleasing consistency, close to the freshness of cotton and linen. This image sets the tone of a true family of furnishings. The series includes a non-folding chair, slightly lower and wider than the director’s chair, and a folding stool that also functions as a table. There is also an original rocking chair, evoking memories of the past but with contemporary design, and a cot enhanced by a padded mattress.

The sophisticated experience of these furnishings stems from the selection of Loro Piana fabrics created for use in the open air, conserving the same level of pleasant softness found in the indoor fabrics. The new proposals, in fact, complete a range that focuses on lively weaves and consistencies. All the fabrics are made with high percentages of recycled Trevira®, the result of a process that permits recovery of scrap from previous workmanship, transformed into yarns of the highest quality. All this adds up to flameproof fabrics, resistant to weathering while respecting the environment.

The solid colors can be easily coordinated with each other. New entries include the Eze herringbone fabric, in a single color or two-tone, where the contrast is more or less marked (in 18 different hues). St. Raphael is the new solid-color outdoor fabric in 12 shades, featuring great strength and an appealing consistency. The La Ponche and Le Lavandou fabrics in solid colors and stripes – emphasize the material allure of intentionally irregular surfaces.

The Delight Chairs outdoor project is completed with a dining table and service tables in two sizes, where the mahogany structure returns, matched with elegant marble tops. The collection, with its exceptional elegance, is idea of refined gardens, terraces or poolside settings, but also for the decks of yachts, thanks to a particular design enhanced by rubber protectors (placed under the structures) made with the same material that goes into the soles of the iconic Loro Piana footwear. Thanks to its extraordinary versatility, The Delight Chairs reveals different virtues in keeping with the context of use, relying on the variety of available coverings. This is what happens in the special winter version, The Delight Chairs St. Moritz: enhanced by the fabrics of Loro Piana Interiors in cashmere and Zelander® wool, the director’s chair, armchair and stool become ideal complements to warm up the refined atmospheres of chalets and mountain lodges. The possibility of outfitting the director’s chair and the armchair with Cashfur coverings (on the seat and back) boosts the sensation of warmth and comfort: this very soft cashmere and silk fabric, with its fur effect by Loro Piana Interiors, links back to the typical Alpine tradition, of providing outdoor seating with warm blankets.
