Super-light

Floor-to-ceiling solutions are increasingly in vogue. The new bookcases are light, airy, minimal. To bring out the best in books and objects, but also in the surrounding architecture

Light weight, contamination of materials, the ability to adapt to different spaces. Contemporary bookcases meet these demands, creating comfortable situations for reading and relaxation. They also work well in the kitchen, thanks to great compositional freedom, where they become precious tools for the storage of recipe files, books, vases, herbs ready for use. And they can separate indoor spaces from outdoor zones.

The Jack bookcase system (on cover) designed by Michael Anastassiades for B&B Italia comes in two versions: with vertical uprights from floor to ceiling, or with posts attached to the wall. The system offers many elements to put together, boosting the functional options: shelves of different depths, storage elements like drawers or compartments with flap doors. All the pieces in the system come in two color, while the shelves and cabinets are in canaletto walnut and four oak variants.

Part of the Officina collection by Magis, a wall-mounted bookcase designed by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, featuring simple lines and great functional efficacy. The crafted iron structure supports shelves in walnut or black finish. The shelves are one or two meters long, and the smaller one also comes with a desktop.

The name Foil suggests the world of boats that fly over the water at high speeds, as if they were weightless. This lightness inspires the Foil bookcase by Bonaldo designed by Maurizio and Silvia Varsi, a crossing of shelves and posts in metal and aluminium.

Daen by Federico Peri for Gervasoni reveals a versatile spirit thanks to unusual combinations of materials. It is formed by a wing covered with woven water-repellent eco-leather, featuring a striped texture that adds a 3D quality to the surface, bringing out the pure geometric volumes.

Giselle, the bookcase created by Boatto Martino Studio for Capital, stems from the desire to make a light object that can function as a storage unit or a divider. The structure is based on the repetition of three metal sections that alternate full and empty zones, supporting the shelves in a symmetrical way.

Air by Lago

The Free bookcase by Arredo3, with an eco-sustainable structure in aluminium, enters the kitchen and can be mounted on the wall, over an island or peninsula, or also attached to the ceiling, for example at the center of the room. The light, dynamic structure of Free, with its clean, essential form, becomes a true décor complement in harmonious dialogue with various types of spaces.

Air by Lago, with the new compact configuration, is placed on glass supports, seeming to float in the air, allowing light to pass and conveying a sensation of extreme lightness in the space. Within the transparency of the glass are hidden thick shelves and functional cabinets, sustained by a concealed attachment system that guarantees stability and safety of the structure.
