A protagonist of the Fuorisalone, the seating collection created by Cristina Celestino takes its cue from sports, in a tribute to the age-old technique of weaving

Raquette is the name, already indicating a primary source of inspiration. Raquette as in the French word for “racket”: a piece of tennis gear, with a characteristic oval form and a woven surface of cords under tension. Cristina Celestino plunges straight into the world of sport to generate this new collection of seating created for Billiani.

A lounge chair, a sofa and a small table, all in ash, feature weaving on the sides, held within a frame. The seat, as if resting on a platform, offers thick, soft and organic padding. The project relies on a game of contrasts between materials and volumes. The table features a marble top combined with a wooden base.

Not by chance, the Raquette collection made its debut during the Fuorisalone in April, inside the exclusive Tennis Club Milano Bonacossa in Milan, with the installation titled Clay Court Club.
