The new kitchens: open to people and the home

Kitchens are being reshaped to respond to the changing needs and habits of people. And in closer contact to the living area

With new models and functional-aesthetic enhancements, kitchens offer personalization and nearly infinite combinations, as part of a new idea of an open home where barriers vanish, generating a single space to be shared with others.

The restyling of the Alea model by Poliform, Alea Pro (on cover) reinterprets the details, especially the grooves for opening, underlined by a profile that brings out the vertical and horizontal lines. The design of the door is new, with a tapered upper border and a handle matched with the groove. The distancing of the side adds a lighter look to the base cabinets.

Riciclantica Outline Valcucine features an aluminium frame – resistant to water, steam and heat –  completed with the world’s lightest and thinnest door, just 2 mm thick. Made with technologies borrowed from the auto industry, the Riciclantica® door is the most advanced solution to express the form of lightness. The opening with grooves cuts the surfaces of the bases, revealing the maximum pursuit of dematerialization.

Sign, the kitchen model by Ernestomeda created by Giuseppe Bavuso, stands out for its extraordinary variety of materials, finishes and structures, offering infinite personalization and combinations. The special feature is the upper part, without the classic closed cabinets: the storage elements leave room for vitrines, open paneling, true display areas where every part has a decorative character to create continuity with the living zone.

Guadalupe is the new kitchen by ARAN Cucine designed for family life. In this composition, the presence of people is foreseen in the central area, surrounded to the left by the snack bar in E:wood and to the right by the wall containing two ovens and a built-in refrigerator. The ‘extra storage’ system based on multiples of 13 cm offers maximum functional quality.

36e8 Marble XGlass by Lago, design Daniele Lago

The Lago 36e8 Marble XGlass kitchen by Daniele Lago is composed of two compact blocks that interpenetrate perfectly, creating a chromatic and material contrast: the base in XGlass suggests the textures of marble, alternating with a top in Wildwood, an ancient oak made lighter by suspension in glass. Thanks to the introduction of XGlass, a new technology that permits digital printing, the glass is transformed into an innovative interpretation of natural elements like marble.

Inside the elegant apartment-gallery of Casa Canvas, in the Brera district, an original Very Simple Kitchen joins a refined collection of art and design objects. The neutral Champagne tone chosen by Casa Canvas for the modules brings out the beauty of the marble countertop with its intense grain. The result is a room that plays with the interface of pale and matte colors and more textural patterns.

After OLA 20 in 2023, OLA (created at the start of the 1990s thanks to collaboration between Snaidero and Paolo Pininfarina) has updated its look. The operation has concentrated on expansion of the range of materials, especially wood: the cabinets are available in a new range of wood varieties. The grooves can be personalized in various colors, while the sculptural leg made of wood, carbon fiber and fiberglass can be combined with the doors, or act as an element of interruption through the choice of contrasting materials and finishes.

With its characteristics, the composition of Mondial by SieMatic amplifies the new style whose design reflects a language of minimalist, modern and geometric forms, without ornaments or traditional stylemes. The island with a block in green serpentine stone has a semi-circular built-in snack bar. The columns at ceiling height are in matte lacquer that resists fingerprints, in the color olive green, with hanging display cabinets.

In this apartment in Milan, Atelier by Abimis has been made to measure in terms of proportions, functions and tools/accessories. Entirely produced in hand-finished AISI 304 stainless steel, the kitchen has been configured to give rise to three separate areas. The first has been installed on the wall, with a cooking and washing block; the second is at the center of the space, with a large island; while a series of columns contain the oven, refrigerators, pantry compartments and a professional wine cooler.
