Dressing the living room

What they have in common is warmth, in the space and on the skin. Fabrics for upholstered furniture and blankets heat things up thanks to colors that enhance textures, along with rare fibers for special effects

You can’t resist touching them. Upholstered furniture covers are a magnet for hands, just as blankets tend to attract bodies. Always in a dialogue between design and sustainability, furnishing fabrics borrow the typical effects of other materials, the reflections of glass, the glow of metals. Or – thanks to precious fibers woven on shuttle looms – they can generate unique textures.

Perennials by Far West (on cover) is the result of collaboration with Liz Lambert, a lover of the crafts of Texas and Baja, experienced in working with artisans from all over Mexico. Campo Stripe (in the photo) is a two-dimensional horizontal striped motif with colored details, available in the hues Sol, Azul, Sombra and Cosmico. Accessories appreciated for their warmth and convivial spirit, blankets are the result of research on weaves and fibers, produced with careful workmanship based on a long tradition as well as innovation in the world of textiles.

Silkglass by Rubelli is a composition of damask portions from different eras (1600s and 1700s) found in the historical archives. The joining of small fragments leads to a new silky, elegant and colorful pattern, resembling blown glass. A ‘glassy’ weave with effects of iridescence and the almost disembodied transparency of Murano craftsmanship, especially in the artistic creations of the Venetian architect and designer Carlo Scarpa.

For the new ultra-fine Adorabile Alpaca by Dedar the most precious Peruvian wool, spun in Italy, permits creation of soft, very smooth and luminous velours. After spinning, the carding extracts extra-long fibers, keeping them taut. The hyper-thin baby alpaca (20 microns), crafted on a shuttle loom, generates an unmistakable, warm, caressing texture. The range includes intense hues, mélange weaves and natural colors.

Lacis by Lelièvre
Lacis by Lelièvre

For the Bivouac collection by Métaphores, Chaman (100% Trevira CS polyester) is a bold graphic tribute to traditional garments and primitive beliefs. The pattern mixes geometric forms and bright colors in a harmonious painterly combination. The colors make direct reference to mineral and botanical elements.

Lacis by Lelièvre is a beautiful épinglé velvet that releases an extremely light, subtle glow, with threads of opaque viscose. Graphic and geometric at the same time, this fabric displays a weave of ribbons that suggest plaid patterns, in contrast with the rest of the collection, yet also perfectly matched.

Somma1867 offers the collection ‘I Plaids 1867’, with many different designs. For the line ‘I Plaids Oro’ we find N.Pop (in the photo) in 100% virgin wool. POP has Oeko-tex certification, guaranteeing the absence of substances that can be harmful to human health.

Lanerossi presents the new capsule collection Radici designed by Ludovica+Roberto Palomba. An archetypal symbol of strength and growth, the tree represents the continuity of the history of Lanerossi as it has evolved over time. These concepts have become designs in an abstract and figurative image, giving rise to an elegant collection of blankets. Available in five chromatic variants, from beige to brighter hues like gold and orange, the blankets are made in 100% virgin wool obtained from selected flocks of Merino sheep, woven with a jacquard technique for a double-face effect, and enhanced by fringes along the borders.

With the Variation blanket, Maison Matisse interprets the painting La Musique by Henri Matisse (1939). The Variation model features an emblematic form in the work of the artist with a philodendron leaf, adding an organic, graphic touch to the wool-cotton weave.

The Fazzini collection is an ode to creativity, combined with refined research on colors and the most innovative printing techniques. Thanks to the engraved printing in 13 colors, the flowers blossom on the fabrics, as in the case of the blanket from the Nastri collection, which takes its name precisely from the ribbons that wrap floral bouquets.
