Every year it offers a surprise, and above all a source of innovative ideas and solutions. The Porada International Design Award has now reached its tenth iteration, as an important event for the design industry – not only in Italy. The contest stands out for its ability to involve new faces, giving space to outstanding professionals as well as rising talents who come to terms with different product categories each time, in unusual projects that take their inspiration and values from the vast and deeply-rooted expertise of the company. The numbers of the previous contest confirm its success, with 343 competitors taking part.

The theme of the new edition is the armchair: a world of comfort and softness, to rethink and reimagine in relation to the use of solid wood – a true Porada trademark.

In collaboration with POLI.design and under the aegis of ADI – Associazione per il Disegno Industriale, the initiative is aimed at Italian and foreign designers (individuals or groups), students or professionals, who are asked to invent original solutions for a product that responds to requirements of functional quality, ergonomics and sustainability. Wood, with a natural or lacquered finish, can be combined with coverings in fabric, leather, eco-leather, rattan, and accessories in metal, in an image that is in tune with the brand’s philosophy.

A jury of experts will convene next month at Villa del Grumello, in Como, to examine the projects and choose the winners, three for each category (students and professionals), for total prize money of 10,000 euros. The many members of the committee include Bruno Allievi, CEO of Porada, and the designers Diane Tevoedjre, Staffan Tollgard and Tristan Lohner.

Projects can be submitted until Sunday 15 January 2023. Guidelines and other information are available at www.porada.it or www.porada-design-award.polidesign.net.
