Selected by Miami Design District for the 2022 edition, the architect Germane Barnes has create a multi-scale installation based on the vibrant visual language of the Miami Carnival, a tribute to the BIPOC – Black, Indigenous and People of Color – communities, which have contributed to generate the multiethnic culture of the city in Florida.
Rock | Roll enlivens the courtyard of creativity of the Design District with a series of sculptural and totemic capsules that rock when activated by users, and about 100 bells in vivid colors. A dome like a giant disco ball transforms into an eclectic outdoor space echoing with music: a place that will host a series of conferences organized in collaboration with the Center for Global Black Studies of the University of Miami and the Institute of Contemporary Art.
