“We work and design for the life of the present, and the antiquarians of tomorrow.” This is the motto of Carmelo Gullo, founder of the Florence-based Officine Gullo, and now at the helm of the company together with his three sons Pietro, Andrea and Matteo.
The company’s products, embodying Italian excellence in the production of luxurious metal stoves, professional cooking equipment and accessories for the kitchen, possess good looks and qualities that stem from the mixture of age-old craftsmanship and cutting-edge techniques: metal sheets, bars and borders, methods of workmanship like hammering, burnishing, nickel-plating and chrome-plating of brass, antique effects for steel or baked enamel for bodywork, all carried out directly in the workshop after the pieces have been shaped in the form and proportions required by the client.
Already a presence in the most important international luxury hubs like Milan, Miami, New York, Tel Aviv, Shanghai, Beijing and Dubai, today the brand has announced the opening of three new single-brand stores: in Boston, London and Taiwan.
The space in Boston, the third in the States after those of New York and Los Angeles, is located inside a brick building at 500 Harrison Avenue, the location of the SoWa Art + Design Center, a gathering place for the local design community.
The store features some of the brand’s most iconic products, including the cooking ranges of the OG Professional line and the Fiorentina line, together with the extensive catalogue of ‘made-to-measure’ options: “The showroom in Boston will be the place where clients can directly experience the beauty of the metals with which we make our products: excellent materials with antique charm and superlative performance, giving rise to peerless creations,” says Matteo Gullo, US Managing Director.
In London the new Officine Gullo space has two large windows on Fulham Road, in the center of the district of reference for design. Thanks to the ‘materials library’ clients can touch and examine all the various options. The displays also feature freestanding cooking blocks from the Fiorentina line and – in the shop window – a model from the OG Professional collection.
“We are excited to open this facility in the heart of the London décor district, the world’s foremost destination for excellent design,” says Pietro Gullo, UK Managing Director. “We are bringing a piece of Florence to London, two cities linked by great affinities of taste, interests and passions, especially for refined design, maximum quality and the art of living well.”
Finally, the path of internationalization of Officine Gullo leads to Taiwan: the company has worked with the prestigious local partner Home Deluxe on the opening of the new showroom, for exclusive distribution of the collections of Officine Gullo, inside a very new space in the Songshan District of Taipei, a vibrant location also chosen by the most prestigious fashion and design boutiques. Here visitors can admire two complete configurations of the brand’s tailor-made collection.
