The name indicates the product’s revolutionary character. Created to accompany the range of bestselling tables by Mara in a synergic, fluid way, the Icon series of upholstered seating designed by Marcello Ziliani has immediately demonstrated its exceptional value. The brand, active for over 60 years in the production of systems and elements for the office, shares the designer’s ‘human-centered’ approach, shifting into a dimension that has not yet been explored.

Among the new items presented at the office furniture fair in Paris and during Design Week in Milan, Icon is a collection capable of entering different usage contexts, incorporating various types of furnishings in a single product. A synthesis of Mara’s research and experimentation, Icon has a refined image typical of home seating, with a dynamic nature and advanced technology taken directly from the world of work, simultaneously extending into the residential, hospitality and office sectors.

In the swivel version on wheels the extreme comfort provided by soft, ample cushions in molded foam encloses a synchronized movement system for the back and seat. The slender opening between the two parts conveys a sense of lightness, with a sleek effect for the upper portion. The mechanisms are totally concealed, carefully inserted in the armrests and the base, thanks to systems created by the designer and the Mara R&D team.

The sustainable virtues of the collection are not to be underestimated either: Icon is made in the production site at Passirano (Brescia) and with local suppliers, with a design that makes it extremely sturdy, to last in time, in spite of changing styles or fashions – thanks to the removable covering that can be changed like a garment.

“We want to guarantee production 100% Made in Brescia,” says Laura Marchina, Managing Director. “One of the most recent and important investments has to do with the purchase of 10,000 square meters of neighboring land, with the construction of new buildings, to expand our production and boost our turnover. This project calls for an investment of over 3 million euros.”
