For Pedrali, the summer is a game of lightness, full and empty zones, in sturdy, versatile and colorful furnishings. Perfectly suited to the June programming of this year’s Salone del Mobile.Milano, finally back in its original guise in the spaces of FieraMilano at Rho. For the 60th iteration of the Salone, the company founded in 1963, based in Mornico al Serio (Bergamo) and Manzano (Udine), which realize contemporary design furnishings for public spaces, the office, the home and the contract sector in Udine and Bergamo, presents a preview of two outdoor products created by CMP Design: a sofa that expands the Nolita seating family, and a stool that has been harmoniously inserted in the Panarea collection.
Both of these new items are expansions of two collections that are already reference points for the firm’s values, summed up in the triad of beauty, tradition and innovation, and in the design activity of the three founders and friends indicated by the acronym CMP – Cazzaniga, Mandelli and Pagliarulo – reflecting visual connections between objects of the past, items of folk culture and natural elements.
The two new creations reinterpret and experiment with new proportions, emphasizing the light construction of Nolita, through the rhythmical repetition of structural elements with steel tubing, in vivid contrast with soft, comfortable cushions, or the creative, enveloping weave of polypropylene cord, the refined raw material that covers the frame and armrests of the tallest member of the Panarea family: the stool.
Nolita: new forms of dwelling
The sunny summer character of Nolita is underlined by the light construction of the new sofa, paced by the rigorous visual rhythm of full and empty zones of the structure in coated steel tubing. CMP Design reworks the gentle proportions of the collection with a renewed expression of relaxed elegance, enhanced by soft, ample cushions in polyester protected by a waterproof pillowcase and covered with polypropylene or outdoor fabrics, resting on the airy construction.
The compositional versatility offered by the various combinations of linear and corner modules, with an armrest to the right or the left, make the Nolita sofa an ideal setting for moments of convivial living and relaxation in the open air, ready to adapt to living areas in the home, but also lounge zones in contract and hospitality applications.
Panarea: strong creative weaves
The weaving of polypropylene cord is the sunny, elegant and distinctive feature of the Panarea stool. The handmade stringing 100% Made in Italy becomes a symbol of respect and dedication for labor, as well as an established tradition. The original geometric design spreads on the large back, covering the entire tubular steel frame and the armrests, summarizing a minimum number of horizontal passages to obtain a surface with double curvature, giving the stool graphic rigor and a three-dimensional look, while making it light, easy to move and ideal for outdoor use.
The seat features a comfortable padded cushion in water-repellent expanded polyurethane, covered with fabric in the same yarn as the woven cord. The presence of a footrest only in the frontal part of the tubular structure permits stacking for storage.
