With a focus on contemporary and modern design, as well as Brutalism, Atelier Ecru Gallery has chosen an unusual site in the center of Antwerp as its temporary headquarters. Inside an elegant historical building, an attic on two levels once used as a dance school becomes the ideal stage for works in which the boundary between art and design becomes nearly imperceptible
Created by important design culture names like Pierre De Valck, Maison Armand Jonckers and Lucas Morton, the one-offs on view stand out for their pure forms and lack of ornamentation, with the idea of displaying their true essence.
Elements deeply inspired by nature, combinations of experimentation and craftsmanship, narrate an international vision and a taste for mingling of styles. Multicultural and multidisciplinary, the gallery founded by Stéphanie Frederickx, with a background in fashion and footwear production, and Christophe Urbain, entrepreneur and co-director of the gallery Barbé Urbain in Ghent, is fascinated by diversity, in constant pursuit of emerging new voices.
