The fans of Milano Design Week know all about it: the best place to be after late afternoon is Bar Basso. It is no exaggeration to say that everyone drops by here, from design superstars to mere enthusiasts. Once the evening is in full swing, there’s no way to know when it will end.

Today this bastion of Milanese identity, steeped in tradition (it was opened in 1947, and is known as the birthplace of the Negroni Sbagliato®) and innovation, travels to Berlin for Insomnia, the festival of music, arts and thinking organized at Pop Kudamm, a space open for creative uses in the city.

The idea comes from Highsnobiety, a media pioneer that since 2005 has shaped youth culture through the spread of novel streetwear (with occasional incursions into the world of luxury), now unveiling a new collection of hoodies, T-shirts, caps and lifestyle objects designed in tandem.

The collection plays with the logos of Highsnobiety and Bar Basso, together with the trademark “Sbagliato” that appears on glasses, and a series of bar utensils including tablecloths, bottle openers and the classic oversized drink glasses of the famous Milanese bar.

Highsnobiety will host a pop-up version of Bar Basso during the Reference Festival in Berlin on 29 April, where visitors can sample the real Negroni Sbagliato® and purchase the items in the collection. The Bar Basso collection for Highsnobiety will be available at highsnobiety.com starting on 27 April. To have a piece of Milan, the design capital, wherever you go.
