India Mahdavi is one of the most highly esteemed designers on the international scene: she has worked with Galleria Nilufar, Louis Vuitton, and outstanding companies in the world of home furnishings (Pierre Frey, Bisazza, Golran, De Gournay). Her colorful, joyous style is a recognizable trademark.

This is also the direction of her very recent collaboration with H&M Home: a series of ceramic pieces, blankets, cushions and rugs, available for purchase starting tomorrow in selected stores, or online at hm.com/home.

“With this collection, H&M HOME has offered me an opportunity to spread a cheerful palette of colors on an international scale,” the designer explains, referring to a range of iridescent tones one might see when closing the eyes in direct sunlight. A collection conceived as a gust of optimism in a world full of uncertainties.

“We wanted to create a poetic, contemplative collection, concentrating on crafted quality and lively colors,” says Evelina Kravaev-Söderberg, director of design and creativity of H&M Home. The collection responds to everyday needs, and includes plates and large bowls, cushion covers and a blanket, all made with natural materials.

Born in Tehran, raised in the United States and Europe, with a studio in Paris, Mahdavi creates projects for public places that have generating some of the most photogenic interiors in the world: first of all, The Gallery at Sketch, in London, a space reinvented in 2014 over a span of just three months, transforming it into a pink treasure chest and one of the most often Instagrammed locations on earth. A project narrated in Mahdavi’s first monograph, released in 2021 (Chronicle Chroma, 272 pages).
