The world moves forward. And awareness of the need to protect our planet grows at the same time. Boffi has embraced this thinking. After being founded as a crafts workshop in 1934, today it is a reference point for design excellence, with an integrated approach to kitchens, bathrooms, furnishing systems and complements.

For Boffi, with its ongoing focus on the needs of contemporary life, the concept of sustainability is wide-ranging: not just the use of virtuous raw materials (even the catalogues are ecological, in FSC® certified paper from responsibly managed forests) and advanced production procedures, but also the concept of versatility: a versatile project, in fact, permits more rational use of resources and space, thus expanding and enhancing a green approach to production.

Two of the company’s leading lines of products reflect this spirit:  Upper Boiserie and Hide. The Upper paneling has an aluminium structure to support the parts, and can be personalized with a wide range of elements and accessories; the Hide system is composed of column storage modules with full-height doors, capable of concealing any item in the kitchen.

Both projects (designed by Piero Lissoni and C.R.S. Boffi) are made in a new certified eco-sustainable material, Ecowood Xilo 2.0, a Boffi exclusive produced by Alpi. Poplar, basswood and ayous are the wood varieties utilized; after being sheared using a special process, the wood is stained by means of immersion, and then reassembled to create new timber by compacting the sheets.

The results are offerings of unique variety, with quality characteristics superior to natural wood, without its typical defects. The panels have FSC® certification because the wood is sourced from responsibly managed forests, in keeping with the strictest environmental, social and economic standards. The ayous wood from Cameron has OLB (Origine et Legalité du Bois) certification.
