Pink walls and neon lettering for a Bollywood-style restaurant bar

Marhaba, the new restaurant bar in Lancashire, UK, is an explosion of “millennial pink,” from pink velvet sofas to Masiero's gold and pink lamps lighting the tables

Pink walls and neon signs make for an Instagram-ready new spot. Marhaba is the restaurant bar in Lancashire, in the northwest of England, designed by the Bibi Interiors firm, founded by designer Junaid Khan. The interiors allude to Bollywood style, specifically a famous Hindi TV series “Yeh Kahan Aa Gaye Hum,” which translates as “where have we come.”

Inside there is an explosion of “millennial pink,” so-named because it’s a popular shade of pink among the young. This delicate, romantic hue that colors every detail of this project, from the curving sofas and pink velvet chairs to the cascades of flowers that descend from the ceiling, the floral wallpapers, the fine pink and gold prismatic glass discs that light the tables, creating a plush, protected atmosphere, encouraging connection between people.

For the Marhaba’s lighting, Bibi Interiors chose Horo lamps, designed by Pierre Gonalons for Masiero in 2020, in candy pink, in a total look with sugar-infused interiors, lights featuring a circular structure in brushed brass and from the prismatic glass diffuser with a unique diamond point motif finish.

“Lighting is one of the most important expressions of interior design,” says Junaid Khan of Bibi Interiors. “Light is that element that can create anxiety or relaxation in a space. Here, the form and color of Horo suspension lamps integrate perfectly with the colors chosen for the interiors. The strength of the project for the Marhaba restaurant bar is represented by the details and finishes. Horo integrates perfectly thanks to the pink prismatic glass.”
