A&B Living updates design culture with the force of a diffused aesthetic that triggers dialogue between geometry, materials, design practice and craftsmanship. The company mixes usage value with a new language of intersection that breaks out of rigid disciplinary boundaries and shifts into a sphere of meaningful artistic expression.

The catalogue of A&B Living brings together objects sharing an interest in materials, forms and colors, narrated through an original vocabulary, capable of renewing the configuration and the use of things. Knowledge connected with particular techniques of workmanship, in this case, also permits new possibilities for approaching the “tradition vs. innovation” dichotomy, leading to truly unique, seductive results.

A&B Living stems from the experience of its owner, Alessio Bernardini, developed in the ateliers and cabinet making shops of Paris, where he honed various techniques to create an unmistakable style. He is one of the few people in Europe capable of applying surprising expertise to marqueterie de paille and other marvelous finishes, adding precious allure even to furnishings with the simplest forms.

The encounter and collaboration with Italian designers has led to a varied range of products, enhanced by painstaking attention to detail and a sensibility in tune with contemporary tastes, prompting reflections on the interaction between various fields of creativity.

Designed by Marco Sorrentino, the Radius table is striking for its clear geometric lines and the precious quality of the iridescent surface of its top in straw marquetry. The base is a monolith finished with liquid metal, for an oxidized brass effect.

The Swallow console and coffee table, designed by Francesco Citterio, have a modular design for fine cabinetmaking, combined with precious chromatic nuances. The composition in varieties of solid wood, shaped in different ways, duplicated and joined by hand with dovetail interlocks, permits the creation of infinite combinations.

Amphorae: Precisely like the amphorae of antiquity, utilized for the transport of precious materials, but reinterpreted in this case by Luca Barengo as metaphorical containers of surprising ideas, vehicles of refined techniques.

The same designer, keeping faith with the symbolic paradigm, has also created the Capsule cabinet. This piece takes its cue from the pills that help us – in our increasingly frenetic existence – to compensate for a lack of nourishing substances, balancing the functions of our organism.

Santa is the mirror designed by Marco Sorrentino, featuring an ample, refined frame covered in marqueterie de paille. A precious halo in which to reflect one’s own image. Those who sit on the two thrones with pure geometric form – again by Sorrentino – are framed by an enormous colored aura, finished with marqueterie de paille and liquid metal. The name of the project: Aurae.

This variegated panoply of works related to the concept of art design foreshadows what will be presented during Milano Design Week 2022: an original collection entirely created by the designer Philippe Nigro, on view at Galleria d’Arte Ponte Rosso, at Via Brera 2 in Milan.
