Shenzen, the centre of the world

From the 9th to 12th December, the modern Chinese metropolis will host Design Shenzhen, a new brand event dedicated to design and creativity. Among the protagonists: Gaetano Pesce, Carlo Ratti, Zaha Hadid Architects and MVRDV

Great expectations for Design Shenzhen, the new event presented by Design Shanghai, scheduled from 9th to 12th December at the Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center in Shenzhen, a modern metropolis in Southeast China.

At the show, over 150 brands, from lighting to solutions for the home and workspaces, with brands such as Ligne Roset, Moooi, Scavolini, Duravit, Villeroy & Boch, Yohji Yamamoto, Caesarstone, just to name a few, together with the best of Chinese creativity, such as Boking Art, Burgeree, Das Design, Eastreme, Fuli Tapestry Carpet, haohaozhu, Pfd +, Tat Ming, Zhi Se, Zhuoyu, Hitachi and Vineko.

The event will be attended by 40+ architects and designers as designer and artist Gaetano Pesce, architect and activist Carlo Ratti, British designer Benjamin Hubert, Satoshi Ohashi of Zaha Hadid Architects and Steven Smit, Director (Asia) of MVRDV, protagonists of the Forum titled “Nature and technology together create hope and harmony”, that speaks to how globally scientists, technologists, innovators and entrepreneurs are coming up with materials and products that not only generate zero waste but also sequester carbon.

The fair will collaborate with Good Design Select, RIBA and Beijing Contemporary, with a focus on the concept of the Future Home. Among the prizes, the Japanese Good Design Select, which will debut in China for the first time, while the British institution RIBA will provide academic support to the fair with China Architect 100. Design but also art: Beijing Contemporary will showcase the artworks of over 10 galleries, in a fusion of art and design.
