“Without roots there is no future”

The concept of an underlying harmony between past and future deeply characterizes the reinterpretation of the Mosaic House Design Hotel in Prague, with Foscarini lights

The historic building in the center of Prague, built in 1935, has been completely renovated by Atelier OЇ with an interior design that takes off from the building’s Art Deco heritage and translates it into a markedly contemporary style, with the contribution of Allegro and Allegretto suspension lamps by Foscarini in painted aluminum and chromed metal designed by the same architectural firm, chosen to distinguish the hotel’s common areas.

With geometric and mobile lines, the Allegro suspension lamps make harmony their distinctive feature. This “harmony” has also inspired their names, which refer to terms of the music vocabulary with their metal lines that design the light and emit sounds when they are touched.

“The Mosaic House Design Hotel is in a 1930s building, which immediately struck us as beautiful,” Atelier OЇ explains. “From the very start, we decided to remove some of the layers that had been added during remodeling over the years, aiming to highlight the original architectural elements. These special elements in particular were the central concrete staircase, the windows in the hotel lobby, and the beautiful mosaics, which are truly unique. For our design’s focal element, we chose the Allegro and Allegretto lamps for their ability to fill the space with personality through the interplay of their lines, highlighting the staircase and the mosaic elements at the entrance, creating pleasing effects of light and shadow.”
