Re-opening… New York

New York restarts and with the city in ferment the events on creative culture return “in person”: organized by NYCxDESIGN, from 13 to 18 May 2021, installations, talks, presentations of new products and new talents, to kick off the Design Days in NYC

Design is back on stage in mid-May with six days of virtual, hybrid and live events, in five different districts. From 13 to 18 May, designers, studios, companies and schools share new ideas and inspirations with the design community, once again transforming the city into a hub of creativity.

Guided by the Executive Director of NYCxDESIGN Elissa Black, the program director Valerie Hoffman and the marketing director Maya Bayram, the Design Days feature an intense series of exhibitions, conferences, installations and design movies: from the new interactive platform Self-Guided Journeys to the talks “In the Neighborhood,” from the Design Leaders Conversation series to the Emerging Designer Residency with Arts Thread at Hudson Yards, all the way to the competition IMPACTxDESIGN in collaboration with Caesarstone, to improve public spaces.

An intriguing program of events that includes the Architecture and Design Film Festival (ADFF), Madison Avenue Art & Design Weekend, and the long-term partners of NYCxDESIGN, namely ICFF and WantedDesign Manhattan, who present – through their popular CLOSEUP – virtual conferences, new products and interesting interviews.

In collaboration with Arts Thread, Design Pavilion presents the works of students from the Parsons School, in the bohemian promenade of the Soho Design District: “Windows Open to the Sky” unveils the creativity of one of the most outstanding schools in New York, through a series of displays in the windows of important showrooms like Artemide (46 Greene St.), Lasvit (51 Wooster St.), Oasiq (42 Greene St.), Gandia Blasco and Vibia (52 Greene St.), Poggenpohl (138 Greene St.) and Salvatori (79 Mercer St.), and Interior Define (68 Greene Street).

Metamorphosis: connecting with the outdoors” – until 31 May 2021 – is a photography exhibition set up in the spaces of the Society Limonta showroom (78 Grand St.), where the poetic, evocative images of Carlotta Manaigo narrate a metaphysical dialogue with nature and the patterns of the brand’s fabrics.
