Outdoor furnishings require certain additional features with respect to indoor settings, as the Danish designer Thomas Bentzen is well aware, completing a collection for Muuto with the Linear Steel Armchair, Side Chair & Café Table.
He has not only chosen materials that stand up to weathering and UV rays, but also studied the small spacing of the seats of the chairs, to allow water to easily drain away. The designer plays with contrasts between sturdy materials (powder-coated steel) and soft, organic lines, for the semicircular legs of the table and chairs, and the orthogonal planes through which they meet.
The chairs stand out for the clean lines of the seats and legs, combined with an ergonomic, gently curved back to ensure enveloping comfort.
The café table, also in steel, features an elegant round or square top, resting on a slim let that terminates in a wider base. The stackable chairs and other furnishings come in a range of appealing colors: black, off-white, dark green and burnt orange.
