Five years after the opening of West NYC Home, the showroom spaces set up like a spacious home on Fifth Avenue, Porro changes its address and opens a new facility, nearby at the intersection with 20th Street. The new multi-level showroom West | Out East is a duplex on the second and third floors of an intriguing building in the Flatiron District, and it becomes a reference point for architects and developers, offering a wide range of items that reflect the brand’s sartorial approach.
The daytime and nighttime collections of Porro are on view, together with the upholstered furniture of Living Divani: the itinerary starts with the dining room, also for use as an office, with the Materic table by Piero Lissoni, a slender round top in Calacatta Oro marble on a tapered base of solid natural ash wood. The protagonist of the living area is the Modern cabinet system, designed by Piero Lissoni + Centro Ricerche Porro, where this year’s research focuses on the concept of “fullness” to give rise to accessorized walls built into the architecture for efficient storage.
In the kitchen, a floor-to-ceiling composition of Modern is enhanced by risers in Valentine Gray marble, with four display cases whose doors are in transparent glass, featuring luminous transparent shelves and spotlights for the worktop. Porro’s design made to measure also accompanies visitors on the stairs, where the choice goes to a System bookcase in the warm tones of heat-treated elm.
Dream details include: the main wardrobe cabin, the true heart of the house, with the system of cabinets, open compartments and Storage cabins, including spaces for shoes, the Modern Vanity niche for make-up, and a central storage island.
The large office area comes alive in a sequence of full and empty zones of the System bookcase, in eucalyptus with ladders to reach the upper levels, smoked glass backs and display modules with doors in transparent glass.
