A hotellerie project with Pratic outdoor awnings expresses a refined ‘concept’ of protection from sunlight, combining exclusive design with high technology.

San Pietro Palace hotel, dating back to the 1600s, stands in the historical center of Finale Ligure, in the province of Savona, not far from the central Piazza Vittorio Emanuele. Over the centuries the building facing the sea has had various functions, all connected to the economics of the sea, first as a garage for fishing boats, and then as an industrial facility for the salting of anchovies. Since the start of the 1900s it has been a hotel, facing an avenue of palm trees and a beach, with 28 rooms and three suites.

Across the four levels of the main façade, vertical moldings and horizontal decorations frame overhanging balconies with wrought iron balustrades in an orderly, serene way. “Precisely the characteristics that make the facade so special have constituted constraints for the plan of installation of a system of shading, and its angle. The T-Code model by Pratic proved to be the optimal response to the needs of the client,” says the architect Valentina Zanetti, of Studio 915, in charge of the renovation project for the hotel.

Placed precisely at the height of the stone molding that embraces the entire volume, five Pratic T-Code outdoor awnings with extensible arms adapt to the front of the building, enhancing it for 420 cm of breadth and 150 of depth, shading the large arched openings in front of the large sidewalk, which thus becomes a comfortable outdoor zone for the guests of the hotel and the Sottosale restaurant. The motorized T-Code outdoor awnings, equipped with protection boxes in aluminium, have been developed and perfected by Pratic Concept, the company’s research and development division, to be as versatile as possible, combining rigor, minimalism and technology in such a way as to also fit into contexts that combine historic structures and contemporary uses.
The product is offered in a range of finishes and fabrics, including acrylics, the Soltis and Screen filtering fabrics, and the waterproof and polyester versions. For San Pietro Palace hotel the architect has chosen two gray tones, the 986/15 for the acrylic fabric and the iron color for the structure. Besides the necessary shading, given the high temperatures in the summer, the T-Code outdoor awnings also provide the lighting indicated in the project to create an outdoor space that matches the internal rooms. The Full LED lighting system with dimmers is built into the back and front parts of the awnings, and operated with a remote control.
