Circular economy. Essential furnitures

The 6th edition of the contest organized by Istituto Marangoni and Cappellini encourages young participants to create sustainable furnishings

“This year too, Istituto Marangoni and Cappellini invite international young creative talents to express themselves on one of the hottest themes in the furniture sector.”

With these words, Massimo Zanatta, Director of Istituto Marangoni Milano Design, launches Circular economy. Essential furnitures, a contest aimed at young designers and organized in a collaboration between Istituto Marangoni and Cappellini. “We will be pleased to welcome a brilliant young talent to our Milan location, to involve in the Masters program and future projects set aside for the most deserving students and graduates, who with passion and commitment delve into a unique path of study on design.”

The theme of this edition encourages participants to create sustainable furnishings, paying close attention to the selection of materials, without overlooking aesthetics and functional quality. This year the contest focuses on the growing demand for eco-friendly solutions.
The deadline for submission of projects is 15 April. The initiative is open to graduates in Product, Industrial, Interior Design or Architecture, or to professionals with pertinent experience.

The winner will receive a full study grant offered by the company Cappellini to take part in the Master in Product & Furniture Design in October 2020, as well as the possibility of an internship inside Cappellini.

The jury composed of Giulio Cappellini, Architect, Designer and Brand Ambassador of Istituto Marangoni and Massimo Zanatta, Director of Istituto Marangoni Milano Design, will evaluate the projects based on compliance with the theme, as well as factors of innovation and the ability to fully address the concept.
